Huawei says the Ascend 960 doubles the Ascend 950’s compute to 2 PFLOPS FP8 and 4 PFLOPS FP4 and adds its HiF4 format. On September 17, 2026 Huawei unveiled the Atlas 960E SuperPoD, built on Ascend 960 chips and near-packaged optics: up to 4,096 NPUs, 8 EFLOPS of FP8 and up to 1 PB of HBM per SuperPoD. Huawei said the Ascend 960DT will be available in Q1 2027 and the 960PR in Q3 2027.
