On October 1, 2026, JERA announced an agreement with British data center developer RHAELM and Dell Technologies for an AI data center project at the Chiba Thermal Power Station. JERA said the Chiba Project is supported by power capacity of up to 400 MW and that total capital deployment is expected to exceed US$15 billion (2.3 trillion yen). Dell is to provide compute through the Dell AI Factory, and Apollo Global Management intends to serve as a strategic investment and financing partner for RHAELM. Operations are targeted to begin around 2028.
