On August 17, 2026, OpenAI said it is joining the PORTS-Pike project at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in Pike County, Ohio, with SB Energy, NVIDIA and the U.S. Department of Energy. The site is planned at approximately 8 GW-IT and will exclusively host NVIDIA AI compute. The first 800 MW are expected to become available in 2028, in a six-year buildout through 2032.
NVIDIA committed $1.5 billion in SB Energy and will provide credit support for land, power and shell for the initial 4.25 GW-IT.
