OpenAI notified developers on August 26, 2026 that gpt-4o-transcribe is deprecated, leaving six months before removal on February 26, 2027. Two newer models are named as the way forward: gpt-live-transcribe and gpt-transcribe.
That August announcement also retired whisper-1, gpt-4o-mini-transcribe and gpt-4o-transcribe-diarize.
