On October 8, 2026, French AI infrastructure company Sesterce announced plans for an AI campus on the site of the former Kaipola paper mill in Jämsä, Finland, with planned investment of over €10 billion. The first phase is 200 MW, with works planned to start in 2026, and capacity is expected to rise to 600 MW in a second phase. Sesterce said it has an anchor customer, which it did not name, and that over the longer term it aims for more than one gigawatt of AI capacity in Finland on existing industrial sites. The site connects to Elenia’s high-voltage network. Sesterce expects about 2,000 people in construction and about 300 once the campus is fully operational.
