Anthropic, Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) and GIC announced a strategic partnership on August 10, 2026 to build dedicated data-center infrastructure for Anthropic through a new platform called Theseus Infrastructure. According to Macquarie’s announcement, the platform will “develop, operate and lease data center infrastructure at scale to Anthropic under long-term agreements.”

How the platform is structured

The announcement divides the roles between the capital providers and the tenant.

Item As stated in the announcement
Platform Theseus Infrastructure
Owners Funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management and GIC
Equity MAM- and GIC-managed funds fund the majority of the equity for each project
Tenant Anthropic, as anchor tenant under long-term agreements
Facilities Purpose-built for Anthropic’s capacity needs
Initial focus United States

Funds managed by MAM and GIC will own the platform and “fund the majority of the equity for each project.” Each facility will be “purpose-built to support Anthropic’s growing capacity needs,” and the parties will work to “identify and develop new sites for which Anthropic will be the anchor tenant,” starting in the United States.

Electricity costs

The announcement includes a commitment on local power prices: “Anthropic will cover electricity price increases that consumers otherwise may face from these sites.” The partners also say the developments will “require significant capital investment and create thousands of construction jobs and permanent operational roles.”

What changes

Theseus separates ownership of the buildings from use of the compute. Under the structure described, Anthropic is the long-term tenant of facilities designed for its needs, while funds managed by MAM and GIC own the platform and provide most of the equity for each project. Anthropic gets dedicated, purpose-built capacity without funding the majority of each project’s equity itself.

The electricity commitment is the other notable term. If one of these sites pushes up local power prices, Anthropic says it will cover the increase that consumers would otherwise face, so the cost of the added load stays with the tenant rather than with households and businesses on the same grid.

The partnership is announced at the platform level: the parties describe the ownership model, the tenant relationship and the US starting point, and individual sites follow from the work to “identify and develop” them. The Model Press adds each Theseus site to its AI data-center project tracker once the partners announce it.
