Muse on AI glasses
Meta describes Muse as “a first-of-a-kind personal AI agent that proactively helps you meet your goals,” which it launched earlier in September. On glasses, the agent is meant to work from what the wearer sees: “You’ll soon be able to say your agent’s name, and Muse can act on what you’re looking at.”
Meta gives examples of the kind of request it has in mind: “Ask about a product on a shelf, a flier on a wall, or a long list of school supplies, and Muse can take action.” The company also says Muse “will have its own email address that it can use to get things done,” and introduced Muse Charm, a device “built for you to talk and interact with your Muse.”
Partners Muse can act through
Meta announced new connectors that let Muse complete tasks with outside services. Per the recap, they are:
| Use | Partners named by Meta |
|---|---|
| Shopping | Walmart, Best Buy, American Eagle Outfitters, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Gap, Michael Kors, Sephora, Ulta, Wayfair |
| Payments | Shop Pay, PayPal |
| Travel | Expedia (coming soon) |
| Groceries | Instacart |
| Work | Notion, Granola, GitHub, Box |
The hardware
- Meta VR Glasses: Meta says the device “weighs about 100 grams, roughly the same as a deck of cards,” and calls it “the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR device.”
- Ray-Ban Meta Audio: combines “the power of earbuds and AI into our lightest and slimmest AI glasses yet,” with hands-free access to Meta’s AI assistant.
- Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3): “a slimmer, more comfortable design, longer battery life, and a new customizable action button” for instant access to Meta AI.
Meta also said: “By the end of this year, we’ll have more than 100 different options for AI glasses.”
What it changes
Meta draws the distinction itself: “Talking to an agent as capable as Muse is different from voice chat with an assistant.” On glasses, that means requests based on what the wearer is looking at, carried out through named retail, payment, travel and work services rather than only answered in conversation.
Meta’s model releases are tracked in the AI model release timeline, and the company’s profile is in AI companies.
